-
- If you are outside the United States (Yes, this does apply to Canada as

- disk contains various encryption type programs, and it is not legal for
- me to mail any encryption software outside the United States. Also, you
- cannot request any encryption software to an email account outside the
- United States. DCONTROL will naturally by sent via email to any account
- possible.
-
- To use the email mailing option, you must support UUENCODED messages,
- although XXENCODE and MIME64 are available, they are not recommended. It
- is also recommended that you have some way of dealing with .ZIP files
- (Since DCONTROL is emailed via a uuencoded .ZIP file)
-
- What Is DCONTROL?:
-
- DCONTROL is a handy utility for drive protection and unknown software
- testing. DCONTROL can deny or grant access to any valid physical drive
- on your PC! Once access is denied, most programs (including DOS) will
- not be able to access that drive! Any attempt to do so results in an
- unknown drive error. Why would you want to disable one of your own
- drives? Well, let's say you downloaded a new game. Your virus scanner
- says the game is ok, but you don't want to take any chances on it
- trashing your C: drive. So, before running the game, you copy it (if
- possibe) to a disk or another drive. You then disable Drive C:. Now if
- the game tries to gain access to that drive, your machine will tell it
- that the selected drive simply does not exist! This non-existant drive
- does in fact exist, but not even your computer knows it's there :-)
-
- Naturally, it's not a good idea to run DCONTROL and disable the drive
- your currently on, because you will either need to reboot your machine
- or run DCONTROL from another disk to get access back to the disabled
- drive(s).
-
- You can disable or enable as many drives as you want, DCONTROL needs no
- memory once it has enabled or disabled a drive. You can for example
- disable both your A: and B: drives. And re-enable them in any order,
- DCONTROL will always place your A: drive back to A: drive, and your
- other drives back in the proper order. :-)
-
- If you load any TSR disk drivers after using DCONTROL to disable a
- drive, it may not be possible to restore access to that drive, if the
- TSR has remapped it. In that case, a simple press of your RESET button
- will return your computer to normal.
-
- To verify that DCONTROL has indeed disabled your drive, try to select
- that drive after using DCONTROL.
-
- DCONTROL does not support controlling access for any drive that is not
- recognized prior to a device driver being loaded. IE: MSCDEX.EXE
-
- DCONTROL can be aborted at any prompt by pressing your ESCape key.
-
- If you would like a free catalog listing of the shareware programs
- currently being offered, please send email to the above address, and
- place "Give me a catalog" in the subject line. One will be emailed as
- soon as possible.
